Lisa Shelton LMT began her career in Staunton, VA in 1996 as a physical therapist.

Lisa arrived in Staunton fresh from the Medical College of Virginia, eager to begin a career in outpatient physical therapy.  Her PT career spanned 20 years, in numerous settings.  She had the opportunity to work with numerous clinicians in Staunton, Harrisonburg, Charlottesville and Waynesboro.   Along the way, she worked in settings ranging from outpatient rehabilitation to dementia care.

She was introduced to the concept of myofasical release and craniosacral therapy by John Barnes, PT.

It was in a workshop led by John Barnes, P.T. that Lisa began to understand how problems within the fascial web were manifesting as a wide range of symptoms reported by her PT clients.   What started as one workshop with John Barnes, quickly turned to many.  And soon, the focus of Lisa’s practice became working with fascial restrictions.

The desire to explore fascial treatment at greater depth, prompted Lisa to become licensed as a massage therapist so that she could open her own practice outside the confines of the physical therapy practice world.  In her own practice setting, sessions could be lengthened and directed by the patient – not by the insurance company.  There would be time for exploration and understanding not normally experienced in the busy setting of the medical world.

Lisa opened the doors to her private practice in 2011.  Slowly she exited the physical therapy world completely to focus her time on working with clients with fascial concerns.

When she’s not in the clinic, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan, and sons, Jake and Joe. She enjoys learning and exploring all areas of healing so that she can continue to marry her allopathic medicine background to her more newly acquired holistic appreciation of health.  And gratefully, her network of colleagues who keep her seeking answers and understanding continue to show up.  Her current mantra is “anything that has endured thousands of years, should be explored.”
